Raised in rabbit against human BMPR1A (Bone Morphogenetic Protein Receptor Type 1A, also known as ALK-3 or CD292), this unconjugated polyclonal primary antibody from Antibodies.com detects the type I BMP receptor subunit that initiates intracellular signaling through the SMAD1/5/8 pathway upon BMP ligand binding. BMPR1A is a transmembrane serine/threonine kinase that heterodimerizes with BMPR2 and is widely expressed in epithelial, mesenchymal, and neural tissues, where it governs osteoblast differentiation, chondrogenesis, vascular remodeling, and stem cell fate decisions. Loss-of-function mutations in BMPR1A are causally linked to juvenile polyposis syndrome and are also implicated in Cowden syndrome-related hamartomas, making the protein a target of interest in gastrointestinal cancer research and hereditary polyposis studies.
Each vial is supplied at 1 mg/ml in phosphate buffered saline (pH 7.3) with 0.05% sodium azide as a preservative, and the 50 µl pack size provides ample reagent for multiple Western blot experiments. Validation has been confirmed in human, mouse, and rat samples, supporting cross-species studies in BMP/TGF-β signaling, with demonstrated reactivity on whole-cell lysates and tissue homogenates separated by SDS-PAGE and transferred to nitrocellulose or PVDF membranes. The unconjugated format allows flexible selection of HRP, fluorophore, or biotin secondary reporters depending on the detection chemistry preferred by the laboratory.
Recommended applications include Western blot characterization of BMP pathway activity in cancer cell lines, primary cell models, and conditional knockout tissues, as well as immunoprecipitation upstream of mass spectrometry workflows. Store refrigerated at 4°C; for long-term use, aliquot to minimize freeze-thaw cycles, and protect from light if downstream assays use fluorescent detection.
