Rabbit polyclonal IgG raised against Bcl-2 modifying factor (BMF), a BH3-only proapoptotic member of the Bcl-2 family that triggers programmed cell death following cytoskeletal disruption, growth factor withdrawal, and loss of matrix attachment (anoikis). The reagent is supplied by Antibodies.com as 50 µl of affinity-purified, unconjugated antiserum in PBS pH 7.3 containing 50% glycerol and 0.02% sodium azide, ready for use in standard immunoblotting workflows.

The antibody was generated against a recombinant fusion protein corresponding to amino acids 1-184 of human BMF (NP_277038.1), the full-length 184-residue isoform that is normally sequestered on myosin V motors via dynein light chain 2 and released upon apoptotic signaling. It detects endogenous BMF in human, mouse, and rat samples and is validated for Western blot at a working dilution of 1:500-1:2,000, with the supplier's reference application using 1:1,000 on 25 µg of cell lysate per lane, a goat anti-rabbit HRP secondary at 1:10,000, 3% non-fat dry milk in TBST as blocking buffer, and ECL detection with a 90 second exposure. The expected band on SDS-PAGE migrates at approximately 21 kDa.

For laboratories studying intrinsic apoptosis, tumor suppression, anoikis, and cellular responses to detachment or cytokine deprivation, this polyclonal reagent offers broad epitope coverage and remains compatible with any HRP- or fluorophore-conjugated secondary antibody the user prefers. For best results, store refrigerated at 4 °C, protect from light, aliquot upon first thaw to avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles, and handle under standard cold-chain conditions to preserve antibody activity. For research use only.
