Raised in rabbit, this polyclonal antibody recognizes BIRC2 (also called cIAP1), a member of the inhibitor of apoptosis protein family that functions as a RING-type E3 ubiquitin ligase and participates in NF-κB signaling through modification of receptor-interacting protein kinases. The reagent is supplied by Antibodies.com as an unconjugated preparation at 1 mg/ml in PBS with 0.1% sodium azide and 50% glycerol, validated for Western blot detection of the human, mouse, and rat protein.

BIRC2 contains three baculoviral IAP repeat (BIR) domains and a caspase-associated recruitment domain (CARD), and it is best known for blocking apoptosis by targeting caspases and key components of the TNF receptor complex for ubiquitin-dependent regulation. Researchers studying cancer cell survival, inflammation, innate immune signaling, and chemoresistance pathways commonly use anti-BIRC2 reagents to monitor expression changes in whole-cell lysates by Western blot, and the cross-reactivity across human, mouse, and rat samples makes it useful for comparative studies in tumor-derived cell lines and primary tissues.

The 100 µl volume provides ample reagent for multiple blotting experiments, and the glycerol-supplemented buffer protects the antibody against repeated freeze-thaw cycles, supporting long-term storage. Routine handling should avoid freeze-thaw cycles beyond the initial aliquot, and brief refrigeration is appropriate for working stocks between uses.
