Anti-BHMT2 Antibody

Produced by Antibodies.com as a rabbit host unconjugated reagent, this polyclonal primary antibody recognizes human betaine-homocysteine S-methyltransferase 2 (BHMT2) and is supplied at 100 µl per vial. Validated applications include Western blot (WB) for protein detection in cell or tissue lysates, and immunohistochemistry (IHC) for localization of BHMT2 expression in fixed tissue sections.

BHMT2 belongs to a small family of methionine-cycle enzymes and supports one-carbon metabolism by catalyzing the transfer of a methyl group from betaine to homocysteine, regenerating methionine through a folate-independent remethylation route. Transcripts are abundant in liver and kidney, making this antibody useful for studies of hepatic and renal sulfur amino acid handling, methylation balance, and cellular responses to elevated homocysteine levels.

Because the reagent is unconjugated, it pairs with common HRP-, biotin-, or fluorophore-conjugated secondary antibodies for chromogenic, streptavidin-biotin, or immunofluorescent detection. The polyclonal format enables recognition of multiple epitopes on BHMT2, which can improve sensitivity when target expression is low, and is reactive with human-derived samples processed as lysates, frozen sections, or paraffin-embedded tissues.
