Beta-2 microglobulin (B2M) is a ~12 kDa light chain that sits non-covalently against the heavy chain of major histocompatibility complex (MHC) class I molecules on virtually all nucleated cells. Because it is also shed into serum, urine, and cell culture supernatants, B2M is widely tracked as a soluble marker of renal tubular function and as a prognostic indicator in lymphoid malignancies such as multiple myeloma and certain non-Hodgkin lymphomas. This Antibodies.com reagent is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody, clone D3A2, raised against human beta-2 microglobulin and supplied directly conjugated to horseradish peroxidase (HRP), so it can be applied to ELISA plates or other solid-phase immunoassays without a labeled secondary antibody.

The conjugate is provided as a 200 µl liquid in a single vial, ready to be titrated into a working assay. With HRP already attached, signal generation proceeds by adding a chromogenic HRP substrate such as TMB, stopping the reaction, and reading absorbance. IgG1 is the dominant mouse subclass used for diagnostic monoclonals against human targets and tends to give low background on Fc-receptor-bearing cells when the same antibody is repurposed for immunocytochemistry or other staining workflows.

Reactivity is reported for human beta-2 microglobulin. Researchers commonly deploy anti-B2M clones to monitor MHC class I surface expression on cultured cell lines, to follow shed B2M accumulation in conditioned media, and to probe HLA class I assembly and peptide loading. The liquid conjugate should be stored refrigerated and protected from light to preserve HRP activity, and freeze-thaw cycles should be minimized, because each cycle progressively reduces peroxidase turnover.
