Anti-BEST1 Antibody

Housed in a research-grade vial from Antibodies.com, this rabbit polyclonal antibody recognizes Bestrophin-1 (BEST1), a calcium-activated chloride channel concentrated in the basolateral plasma membrane of retinal pigment epithelial (RPE) cells. Variants in the BEST1 gene cause Best vitelliform macular dystrophy and a growing list of autosomal recessive retinopathies, so the reagent is widely used in ophthalmic and vision-research laboratories.

Each pack contains 100 µl of antibody at 1 mg/ml, formulated in PBS with 0.1% sodium azide as a preservative and 50% glycerol as a cryoprotectant. The unconjugated preparation is validated for Western blot and immunohistochemistry on human and mouse tissue, supporting studies of endogenous BEST1 expression in RPE, retina, and select epithelial models.

For best results, aliquot upon receipt to limit freeze-thaw cycles and store the antibody refrigerated for short-term use; the glycerol content permits -20 °C archiving without loss of activity. The polyclonal format broadens coverage across multiple BEST1 epitopes, which is helpful when probing both denatured (WB) and lightly fixed (IHC) specimens.
