Raised in rabbit, this polyclonal IgG preparation recognizes Bestrophin 1 (BEST1), a calcium-activated chloride channel localized predominantly in the retinal pigment epithelium (RPE) of the eye. Produced by Antibodies.com as an unconjugated reagent, it is supplied as 100 µl of antiserum validated for western blot analysis on human and mouse samples.

BEST1 mutations are associated with Best vitelliform macular dystrophy and related retinopathies, making the antibody useful for ophthalmology and vision research workflows. Investigators probing channelopathies, RPE physiology, and inherited macular degeneration use anti-BEST1 reagents to assess the ~68 kDa transmembrane protein in tissue lysates and cell extracts. The polyclonal format offers recognition of multiple epitopes across the target, supporting reproducible detection across blotting experiments.

Recommended storage is at -20 °C in working aliquots to limit freeze-thaw cycles, and the antibody should be handled with standard laboratory precautions for protein-based reagents. The unconjugated format allows pairing with user-selected secondary antibodies and detection chemistries, including HRP and fluorescence-based systems, for western blot workflows.
