Raised in rabbit, this polyclonal antibody targets Beclin 1, a ~60 kDa coiled-coil protein that orchestrates autophagosome nucleation through its interaction with the class III PI3K complex (Vps34, Vps15, p150). Beclin 1 sits at the heart of macroautophagy regulation and is widely studied in the contexts of tumor suppression, neurodegeneration, viral pathogenesis, and cellular stress responses. By binding endogenous Beclin 1, the reagent lets investigators track autophagy induction and modulation across multiple experimental systems.

Validated for Western blot and immunohistochemistry, the antibody detects Beclin 1 in human, mouse, and rat samples, making it useful for cross-species studies in rodent disease models and human clinical specimens. The host species is rabbit, the clonality is polyclonal, and the antibody is supplied unconjugated, allowing researchers to pair it with their preferred secondary detection reagents or label it themselves. Each vial contains 50 µl of antibody at 1 mg/ml in Phosphate buffered saline (PBS) with 0.05% sodium azide, pH approximately 7.3.

Produced by Antibodies.com as part of their primary antibody catalog, this reagent supports autophagy research in academic and translational settings. The PBS-based formulation with sodium azide as a preservative is suited to immunoblotting workflows and tissue section staining, as well as broader applications in cell biology and disease model characterization.
