BCL11A is a C2H2-type zinc finger transcriptional repressor that recruits the BAF SWI/SNF chromatin remodeling complex to silence fetal hemoglobin expression in adult erythroid cells, while also serving as an essential driver of B-lymphocyte development and cortical neuron patterning. The 91 kDa protein, encoded by Q9H165 and expressed as 773, 486, or 239 amino acid isoforms, is a frequent focus in lymphoma biology research, cortical layer formation studies, and reactivation strategies relevant to sickle cell disease and beta-thalassemia therapy.

Raised in rabbits and affinity-purified from the immunogen, this unconjugated IgG polyclonal reagent from Antibodies.com is supplied as a 50 µl vial and validated for Western blot detection of endogenous BCL11A in human and mouse samples. The polyclonal format binds multiple epitopes across the target, which is useful when probing post-translationally regulated transcription factors or comparing expression across the three BCL11A isoforms, since size differences between them run into hundreds of residues.

For Western blot, dilute the antibody in standard blocking buffer and incubate membranes overnight at 4°C, then detect with an HRP- or fluorophore-conjugated secondary reagent. Store working aliquots at -20°C to limit freeze-thaw cycles, bring the vial to approximately 4°C before opening, and keep handling on ice. Protect from light during downstream fluorescent detection steps to preserve signal integrity, and avoid reuse of diluted antibody beyond the working day to maintain lot-to-lot consistency.
