Raised in rabbit against the pro-apoptotic Bcl-2 family protein Bax, the unconjugated Anti-Bax (C62) polyclonal antibody from Antibodies.com is supplied at 1 mg/ml in phosphate buffered saline containing 15 mM sodium azide, pH approximately 7.2. Each vial contains 100 µl of antibody, sufficient for multiple western blot, immunohistochemistry, and immunofluorescence experiments. Validated reactivity covers human, mouse, and rat samples, making the reagent broadly applicable to apoptosis research, tumor biology studies, and investigations of mitochondrial outer membrane permeabilization in cellular and tissue models.

The antibody recognizes the ~21 kDa Bax protein, which translocates to mitochondria during intrinsic apoptotic signaling, where it oligomerizes to promote cytochrome c release. Researchers use this reagent to monitor endogenous Bax expression levels, study conformational activation, and compare expression patterns with anti-apoptotic partners such as Bcl-2 and Bcl-xL. In western blot applications, the antibody detects the monomeric Bax band in cell lysates prepared under standard lysis conditions; for immunohistochemistry, antigen retrieval protocols are commonly employed on formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded tissue sections; and for immunofluorescence, the unconjugated format allows flexibility with user-selected fluorophore-conjugated secondary reagents.

Storage at refrigerated temperatures is recommended for routine use, and aliquoting is advisable to minimize freeze-thaw cycles and preserve antibody activity over extended projects.
