Bax is a 21 kDa pro-apoptotic member of the Bcl-2 protein family that translocates to the outer mitochondrial membrane during intrinsic apoptosis, where it oligomerizes to promote cytochrome c release and caspase activation. This rabbit polyclonal reagent from Antibodies.com detects the Bax protein across human, mouse, and rat samples, making it useful for comparative apoptosis studies in cell line and animal model systems.
Validated for Western blot and immunohistochemistry, the antibody supports detection of endogenous Bax in whole-cell lysates and tissue sections. On Western blot, a band near 20-21 kDa is the expected signal, consistent with the molecular weight of the full-length Bax protein. The unconjugated polyclonal format provides flexibility in secondary antibody choice and is compatible with standard chemiluminescent and chromogenic detection workflows. Supplied as 100 µL, the reagent should be stored refrigerated in working aliquots to limit freeze-thaw cycles and preserve binding activity for downstream applications.
