Manufactured by Antibodies.com, this rabbit polyclonal reagent is raised against the pro-apoptotic Bcl-2 family protein Bax and is designed to detect endogenous levels of total Bax in human and rat samples. The antibody is supplied at a working concentration of 1.0 mg/mL in a 50 µL volume, formulated as purified rabbit IgG in phosphate-buffered saline (pH 7.4) containing 150 mM NaCl, 0.02% sodium azide and 50% glycerol as a cryoprotectant. It is unconjugated, allowing users to couple it to their preferred reporter or to apply it directly in immunolabelling workflows. Recommended applications validated by the supplier include Western blotting (WB), immunohistochemistry (IHC) and immunocytochemistry/immunofluorescence (ICC/IF). The immunogen corresponds to a synthesized peptide derived from the human Bax sequence, and the antibody is affinity-purified from rabbit antiserum by epitope-specific affinity chromatography, contributing to the polyclonal specificity profile. For routine handling the product is shipped at 4 °C and should be aliquoted upon arrival and stored at –20 °C, with repeated freeze/thaw cycles avoided to preserve reagent integrity. The reagent is supplied for research use only and is not intended for diagnostic or therapeutic applications. Its reactivity with both human and rat species makes it suitable for comparative studies across cell line and primary tissue models of apoptosis, while the polyclonal format offers broader epitope coverage for robust detection of endogenous Bax expression.
