This polyclonal antibody from Antibodies.com targets BAT (bile acid-CoA:amino acid N-acyltransferase), the peroxisomal enzyme that catalyzes the final conjugation step linking primary bile acids with glycine or taurine. Raised in rabbit and supplied unconjugated in a 100 µL volume, the reagent is validated for Western blot analysis and immunohistochemistry on human tissue and cell preparations.

BAT is most relevant to hepatobiliary research, where it is examined in studies of bile acid homeostasis, cholestatic liver injury, and inherited conjugation defects such as familial hypercholanemia, which is associated with loss-of-function changes in the BAAT gene. Investigators working on peroxisomal biogenesis disorders, primary biliary cholangitis, and enterohepatic signaling routinely probe BAT levels in patient-derived liver biopsies, primary hepatocyte cultures, and hepatic cell lines, where the unconjugated format allows the user to pair the antibody with their preferred reporter chemistry.

As a polyclonal reagent, the antibody recognizes multiple epitopes on the BAT target, supporting detection of the protein in crude lysates and fixed tissue sections without requiring an over-expressed tagged standard. The unconjugated presentation leaves the choice of fluorophore, biotin, HRP, or alkaline phosphatase label to the end user, fitting both chemiluminescent Western blot workflows and standard IHC chromogen protocols. Reactivity is reported for human samples, and the reagent is intended for research use only.
