The Bad protein (Bcl-2-associated death promoter) is a pro-apoptotic member of the Bcl-2 family that links extracellular survival cues to the mitochondrial apoptosis machinery. Phosphorylation at serine 155 (S155) acts as a decisive switch: kinases of the Akt/PKB pathway and related AGC family members catalyse this modification, which disrupts Bad binding to anti-apoptotic Bcl-2 and Bcl-XL, drives Bad into 14-3-3-bound cytosolic complexes, and tips the balance away from programmed cell death. Altered Bad S155 phosphorylation has been reported in studies of tumor cell survival, neuronal injury models, metabolic tissue contexts, and cellular responses to chemotherapeutic agents.

This reagent from Antibodies.com is a rabbit polyclonal IgG raised to recognise the phosphorylated form of Bad at S155 on endogenous protein samples. It is supplied as 100 µL of unconjugated antiserum and has been validated for Western blot (WB) and immunohistochemistry (IHC). The reagent cross-reacts with Human, Mouse, and Rat samples, supporting comparative work between human tissue specimens and rodent model systems. Because the antibody is unconjugated, investigators can pair it with a secondary reagent of their choice for chemiluminescent, fluorescent, or chromogenic readouts in standard research workflows.
