The Bad protein (BCL2-associated agonist of cell death) is a BH3-only pro-apoptotic member of the Bcl-2 family that links upstream survival signaling to the mitochondrial apoptosis machinery. Phosphorylation at conserved serine residues governs its binding to anti-apoptotic partners such as Bcl-xL and Bcl-2, with AKT/PKB and RSK among the principal upstream kinases.

This recombinant rabbit monoclonal antibody from Antibodies.com is raised against Bad and supplied as a 50 µl liquid in 1× TBS (pH 7.4) with 1% BSA, 40% glycerol, and 0.05% sodium azide as preservative. It is unconjugated and validated for western blot, immunocytochemistry/immunofluorescence, immunohistochemistry, and flow cytometry across human, mouse, and rat samples. For handling, store the vial at -20°C and avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles by aliquoting on first use; the 40% glycerol content keeps the reagent liquid and active at this temperature.

Researchers use this reagent to monitor endogenous Bad expression and post-translational status in cancer cell lines, neurodegeneration models, and metabolic disease studies, where shifts in Bad abundance or phosphorylation can reveal altered apoptotic priming and survival pathway engagement.
