AVEN, also called PDCD12 or apoptosis/caspase activation inhibitor, is a cytoplasmic adapter that binds Apaf-1 and blocks caspase-9 activation following DNA damage, and it has been linked to chemoresistance in tumor cells. Produced in rabbits and supplied by Antibodies.com as 200 µl of unconjugated polyclonal IgG, this reagent is raised against AVEN and cross-reacts with the human, mouse, and rat orthologues. The antibody is validated for Western blot, where it recognizes a protein running at roughly 50 kDa on standard SDS-PAGE gels of whole-cell or tissue lysates.

Common applications include confirming siRNA or CRISPR knockdowns of AVEN, comparing Aven levels across matched tumor and normal biopsies, and probing Aven-containing complexes alongside Apaf-1 or Bcl-xL immunoprecipitates in apoptosis pathway studies. For best stability, refrigerate the antibody and store working aliquots at low temperature to avoid repeated freeze-thaw of the stock. This unconjugated primary reagent is compatible with standard secondary detection chemistries, including anti-rabbit HRP and fluorescent secondaries, and is intended for research use only in in vitro experimental workflows.
