This rabbit polyclonal antibody from Antibodies.com targets ATXN3 (Ataxin-3), a deubiquitinating enzyme best known for its causal role in Machado-Joseph disease, also classified as Spinocerebellar ataxia type 3, a polyglutamine expansion disorder. ATXN3 contains a catalytic Josephin domain and ubiquitin-interacting motifs, placing the protein at the intersection of the ubiquitin-proteasome system and cellular protein quality control.

The reagent is supplied as 100 µl of unconjugated antiserum at 1 mg/ml in PBS with 0.1% sodium azide and 50% glycerol for cryopreservation. It was raised in rabbit and detects ATXN3 in human, mouse, and rat samples, supporting comparative work across species. Validated applications include western blot (WB), immunohistochemistry (IHC), and immunofluorescence (IF), enabling detection of endogenous protein in cell lysates and fixed tissue sections.

Because the antibody is unconjugated, researchers can pair it with HRP-, biotin-, or fluorophore-conjugated secondary reagents matched to their chosen detection platform. Aliquot upon first use to limit freeze-thaw cycles, and store the working stock at 4 °C between experiments to preserve activity in studies of polyQ aggregation, cerebellar neurodegeneration, and ubiquitin pathway function.
