Ataxin-2 (ATXN2) is targeted by this rabbit polyclonal IgG antibody from Antibodies.com, validated for western blot (WB) detection of the endogenous human and mouse protein in research on neurodegenerative disease, RNA metabolism, and stress granule biology. Polyglutamine expansion within ATXN2 causes spinocerebellar ataxia type 2 (SCA2), while intermediate-length expansions and variants associate with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) susceptibility.
Functionally, Ataxin-2 participates in translation regulation, ribonucleoprotein complex assembly, and cytoplasmic stress granule nucleation, interacting with poly(A)-binding protein and TIA-1 in stress granule dynamics. Researchers apply this antibody in studies of motor neuron disease, Parkinsonism, metabolic signaling, and mRNA homeostasis, probing expression patterns and aggregation events across cell lysates and tissue homogenates.
Supplied as 100 µl of unconjugated polyclonal antiserum. Aliquot upon receipt to limit freeze-thaw cycles and store frozen at -20°C; working dilutions can be kept refrigerated at 4°C for short-term use.
