This polyclonal IgG reagent from Antibodies.com specifically recognizes ATP8A1, a P4-family ATPase that catalyzes ATP-dependent flipping of aminophospholipids across membrane bilayers. The antibody was raised in rabbit and is supplied as an unconjugated antiserum in a 200 µl vial, validated for Western blot detection of endogenous ATP8A1 in human, mouse, and rat samples.

ATP8A1 localizes to Golgi and endosomal compartments in mammalian cells and contributes to vesicle-mediated transport, membrane asymmetry, and intracellular trafficking. The aminophospholipid translocase activity of P4-ATPases has been linked to cell signaling, neurite outgrowth, and phospholipid homeostasis in published studies. Researchers investigating flippase biology, lipid transport, and Golgi or endosome function use this reagent to probe expression patterns in tissue lysates and cell line extracts.

For Western blot, separate whole-cell or tissue lysates by SDS-PAGE, transfer to PVDF or nitrocellulose, and probe at empirically determined antibody dilutions. Aliquot upon receipt and store at -20°C for long-term stability, avoiding repeated freeze-thaw cycles; the working stock may be kept refrigerated for routine use. As a polyclonal IgG, the reagent offers broader epitope coverage than monoclonal alternatives, which is useful when detecting conserved regions across species orthologs.
