This unconjugated rabbit polyclonal reagent from Antibodies.com targets ATP6V1B1, the B1 subunit of the vacuolar-type H+-ATPase (V-ATPase). The antibody is supplied as 100 µL of polyclonal serum raised in rabbit and is validated for Western Blot (WB) and Immunohistochemistry (IHC) on human and mouse samples.

ATP6V1B1 encodes the B1 isoform that assembles into the catalytic V1 sector of the multi-subunit V-ATPase proton pump. The isoform shows a distinctive tissue distribution, with high expression in renal intercalated cells of the cortical collecting duct and in the cochlear epithelium of the inner ear, where it drives proton secretion into the urine and endolymph respectively. Loss-of-function variants in ATP6V1B1 are a well-characterised cause of autosomal recessive distal renal tubular acidosis, frequently presenting with sensorineural hearing loss, which is why the protein is widely studied in nephrology and auditory research.

For Western Blot, the reagent detects the expected band of the B1 subunit in cell and tissue lysates. In IHC, it labels alpha-intercalated cells in kidney sections and supporting cell populations in cochlear tissue, enabling studies of acid-base regulation, luminal pH control, and the cellular pathology of dRTA. The unconjugated format leaves the choice of secondary reporter to the user, supporting chromogenic and fluorescence workflows alike. Store at -20 °C in working aliquots to limit freeze-thaw cycles, and handle the 100 µL vial on ice during use.
