This rabbit polyclonal IgG antibody from Antibodies.com targets ATP1A2, the catalytic alpha-2 subunit of the Na+/K+ ATPase, a P-type ion transporter responsible for maintaining sodium and potassium gradients across the plasma membrane. ATP1A2 is predominantly expressed in astrocytes and other glia of the central nervous system, where it contributes to ion homeostasis and clearance of extracellular K+ following neuronal activity. The unconjugated reagent is supplied as 200 µl of polyclonal antiserum and has been validated for Western blot, immunohistochemistry, immunofluorescence, and flow cytometry on whole-cell or tissue samples. Researchers studying familial hemiplegic migraine type 2, alternating hemiplegia of childhood, and other neurological disorders linked to ATP1A2 mutations use this reagent to profile protein expression in human brain tissue and derived cell lines. Store aliquots frozen at -20 °C in small working volumes to limit freeze-thaw cycles and preserve binding activity over the antibody's shelf life.
