The unconjugated polyclonal IgG antibody from Antibodies.com targets ATP1A2 (Na+/K+ ATPase catalytic subunit α2), a P-type ATPase that maintains the electrochemical gradient across plasma membranes by pumping three sodium ions out and two potassium ions in per hydrolyzed ATP. Predominantly expressed in astrocytes of the central nervous system and in cardiac and skeletal muscle, this 100 µl reagent is validated for Western blot, immunohistochemistry, immunofluorescence, and flow cytometry on human samples. ATP1A2 carries strong clinical relevance: loss-of-function mutations in the ATP1A2 gene cause familial hemiplegic migraine type 2 (FHM2) and are implicated in alternating hemiplegia of childhood, making this antibody a useful reagent for neurobiology, glial physiology, and ion transport research. The polyclonal antibody from rabbit hosts provides multi-epitope recognition that can improve detection of the target in both denatured (Western blot) and native (flow cytometry) applications. Each vial is supplied unconjugated, allowing researchers flexibility to pair it with their preferred secondary antibody and detection chemistry. For optimal reagent stability, refrigerated storage is recommended and aliquoting is advised to limit freeze-thaw cycles.
