Atlastin-3 (ATL3) is a dynamin-related GTPase anchored in the endoplasmic reticulum membrane, where it mediates homotypic ER tubule fusion and helps shape the peripheral ER network that contacts mitochondria and the plasma membrane. Antibodies.com provides this rabbit polyclonal anti-ATL3 reagent as an unconjugated IgG preparation in a 200 µl liquid volume, intended for Western blot detection of endogenous ATL3 in human, mouse, and rat samples. The antibody is particularly useful for laboratories investigating ER membrane dynamics and the molecular pathology of hereditary sensory and autonomic neuropathy type 1 (HSAN1), a dominantly inherited disorder caused by gain-of-function mutations such as p.Tyr152Cys and p.Pro338Arg that disrupt ATL3 GTPase activity and produce fragmented ER morphology in patient sensory neurons and fibroblasts. Researchers working with HSAN1 patient-derived iPSC sensory neurons, Atlastin-3 conditional knockout mice, or siRNA knockdown cell lines commonly employ this reagent to compare ATL3 protein levels and oligomerization state against wild-type controls by immunoblotting whole-cell lysates or microsomal fractions. The polyclonal format provides recognition of multiple epitopes across the ATL3 cytoplasmic tail, which is helpful when studying mutant proteins that may misfold or show altered antibody binding in conventional monoclonals.
