ATG5 (Autophagy Related 5) is a central component of the autophagy machinery, where it conjugates with ATG12 to form the ATG5-ATG12 complex essential for autophagosome elongation and LC3 lipidation. This unconjugated rabbit polyclonal antibody from Antibodies.com recognizes endogenous ATG5 and is validated for Western blot (WB) and immunohistochemistry (IHC) workflows. Raised in rabbit, the polyclonal reagent detects the target in human, mouse, and rat samples, enabling cross-species comparative studies of basal and induced autophagy. Supplied as 100 µl of liquid antiserum, the antibody supports lysate-based immunoblotting of the characteristic ATG5 band and IHC detection of autophagy-associated structures in fixed tissue sections. Researchers studying mitophagy, ER-phagy, and nutrient-stress responses routinely apply ATG5 immunoreactivity as a marker for autophagic flux in cardiomyocytes, neurons, hepatocytes, and tumor models. Aliquot upon receipt and store frozen in working volumes to limit freeze-thaw cycles, protecting from light for long-term stability. For research use only.
