ATG4B (Autophagy Related 4B Cysteine Peptidase) is a cytoplasmic cysteine protease that drives two essential steps in macroautophagy: the initial C-terminal cleavage of pro-LC3 to generate the cytosolic LC3-I form, and the later delipidation of membrane-bound LC3-II on completed autophagosomes to recycle LC3 back into the cytosol. Because both reactions are required for autophagosome biogenesis and turnover, antibodies against ATG4B are used to track autophagy flux in cell biology and cancer research, where altered ATG4B expression has been linked to tumor cell survival and chemotherapy response.

This unconjugated rabbit polyclonal antibody from Antibodies.com was raised against ATG4B and validated for western blot and immunohistochemistry on human and mouse samples. Supplied as 100 µL of polyclonal serum in a vial, it is intended for research use only and can be combined with LC3 or p62/SQSTM1 staining to dissect autophagy pathway activity in fixed tissue sections and whole-cell lysates.
