ATF2 (Activating Transcription Factor 2) is a bZIP transcription factor whose activity is regulated by phosphorylation downstream of stress-activated kinases, and this rabbit polyclonal antibody from Antibodies.com targets epitopes at residues 112 and 94 of the human protein. Phosphorylation of ATF2 by JNK, p38 MAPK, and ERK controls its recruitment to stress- and cAMP-responsive promoters, making the protein a widely used readout for MAP kinase signaling in cell biology.

Supplied as 100 µL of unconjugated antiserum, the reagent is validated for western blot and immunohistochemistry workflows. Cross-reactivity has been confirmed with human, mouse, and rat samples, enabling comparative studies between clinical specimens and rodent disease models. Research applications include monitoring DNA damage responses, inflammatory cytokine signaling, oxidative stress, and neuronal injury pathways, where ATF2 phosphorylation is used as a sensitive indicator of upstream kinase activation.

For western blot, lysates prepared with phosphatase inhibitor cocktails preserve phosphorylation-dependent epitopes, and HRP-conjugated anti-rabbit reagents provide routine chemiluminescent detection. For IHC on formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded tissue, citrate- or EDTA-based antigen retrieval is optimized to the fixation conditions before primary antibody incubation, allowing localization of ATF2-expressing cells across diverse tissue types.
