Anti-Ataxin-2 Antibody

This polyclonal antibody from Antibodies.com targets the human Ataxin-2 protein encoded by the ATXN2 gene, the locus whose CAG repeat expansion causes spinocerebellar ataxia type 2 (SCA2). Raised in rabbit and supplied at 100 µl as an unconjugated liquid preparation, the reagent is validated for western blot (WB), immunohistochemistry (IHC), and ELISA workflows in human samples. Ataxin-2 functions in cytoplasmic RNA processing, stress granule assembly, and translational regulation, and altered ATXN2 expression has been linked to amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) risk, Parkinson disease susceptibility, and metabolic dysfunction. The antibody supports research into polyglutamine (polyQ) expansion pathology in patient-derived material, including studies of the ATXN2-TDP-43 protein interaction that influences motor neuron disease progression. It has been used to probe full-length and cleaved Ataxin-2 species in lymphoblastoid cell lysates, post-mortem neural tissue, and transfected lines expressing tagged ATXN2 constructs, enabling detection of both wild-type and expanded-allele protein products.
