Anti-ASS1 Antibody

Polyclonal rabbit antibody raised against human argininosuccinate synthase 1 (ASS1), the cytosolic urea-cycle enzyme that condenses citrulline and aspartate into argininosuccinate in an ATP-dependent reaction. Produced by Antibodies.com as an unconjugated IgG preparation at 1 mg/ml in PBS containing 0.1% sodium azide and 50% glycerol, supplied as a 100 µl aliquot. Validated for western blot and immunohistochemistry, and reactive against human, mouse, and rat samples.

ASS1 sits at a key branch point between nitrogen disposal and arginine biosynthesis, and its expression is widely studied in cancer metabolism. Loss of ASS1 has been documented in hepatocellular carcinoma, mesothelioma, melanoma, and subsets of breast, prostate, and ovarian cancers, where the resulting arginine auxotrophy creates a therapeutic vulnerability to arginine-depleting agents such as pegylated arginine deiminase. The antibody is therefore used in research that profiles ASS1 status in tumor tissue by IHC, in cell-line panels by western blot, and in studies of urea-cycle disorders where reduced ASS1 activity drives citrullinemia type I.

For handling, the glycerol-containing formulation is intended to remain liquid at -20 °C, avoiding repeated freeze-thaw cycles. Sodium azide is included as a preservative; the buffer composition should be reviewed before any application where azide would interfere. The unconjugated format allows direct conjugation in-house or pairing with secondary reagents matched to the rabbit host species.
