This unconjugated polyclonal antibody from Antibodies.com targets the cytoplasmic isoform of aspartate aminotransferase (also known as GOT1 or cAST), a pyridoxal 5'-phosphate-dependent enzyme that catalyzes the reversible transamination of L-aspartate and α-ketoglutarate to oxaloacetate and L-glutamate. Raised in rabbit, the reagent is supplied at 100 µg per vial and is validated for western blot and immunohistochemistry on human samples.

Beyond its classical role in amino acid metabolism, cytoplasmic aspartate aminotransferase participates in the malate-aspartate shuttle that moves reducing equivalents across the inner mitochondrial membrane, and it has attracted renewed research interest for its contribution to aspartate-dependent nucleotide synthesis and redox balance in cancer cell lines. Studies of GOT1 in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma and other tumour models have used polyclonal reagents of this type to assess expression in cell lysates and fixed tissue sections.

The antibody is reactive with human antigen, unconjugated for flexible secondary detection, and recommended for applications including WB and IHC. Store refrigerated; protect from light; aliquot to avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles. For research use only.
