This rabbit polyclonal antibody specifically recognizes human ASGR1 (Asialoglycoprotein Receptor 1), a transmembrane C-type lectin expressed on the basolateral membrane of hepatocytes that mediates clathrin-dependent endocytosis and lysosomal clearance of desialylated glycoproteins from the circulation. Validated for Western blot (WB) and immunohistochemistry (IHC), the unconjugated reagent from Antibodies.com is supplied as 100 µl of polyclonal antiserum raised in rabbit and is reactive with human tissue samples.

ASGR1 is a target of growing biomedical interest well beyond classical hepatic clearance biology. The receptor functions as a high-affinity attachment site for hepatitis B virus surface antigen during the early stages of hepatocyte entry, and circulating anti-ASGR1 autoantibodies are recognized serological markers associated with autoimmune hepatitis. Loss-of-function variants in ASGR1 have also been linked to reduced plasma LDL cholesterol and a lower risk of coronary artery disease, expanding the receptor's relevance to cardiovascular and metabolic research.

Distributed in a single vial for research use only, the antibody supports studies of hepatocyte receptor trafficking, viral entry mechanisms, hepatic glycoprotein turnover, and autoantibody profiling in inflammatory liver disease. End-users should perform empirical titre optimization for each application, especially when adapting the reagent to immunofluorescence, immunoprecipitation, or flow cytometry workflows where sample preparation differs from the validated WB and IHC protocols.
