ARFGEF2 (ADP-ribosylation factor guanine nucleotide-exchange factor 2), also called BIG2, is a large guanine-nucleotide exchange factor that activates ARF1 and ARF6 on the trans-Golgi network and endosomal membranes, where it drives vesicle budding, cargo sorting, and trafficking between the trans-Golgi and early endosomes. Loss-of-function variants in ARFGEF2 are linked to periventricular heterotopia with megalencephaly, and the protein is widely studied in neuronal migration, polarized sorting from the Golgi, and the assembly of AP-1/clathrin coats.

This polyclonal reagent from Antibodies.com was raised in rabbit against human ARFGEF2 and is supplied as 100 µl of unconjugated antiserum in a vial, ready for western blot and immunofluorescence workflows. It has been validated on human, mouse, and rat samples, supporting cross-species work in cell biology and neuroscience labs that compare rodent models with patient-derived material. The unconjugated format lets end users pair it with their own choice of HRP, fluorescent, or biotin secondary reagents and tailor detection to the platform in use, from chemiluminescent blots to confocal imaging of fixed cells.

Typical applications include characterization of Golgi and endosomal fractions by western blot at the expected ~200 kDa band, co-localization studies of BIG2 with markers such as TGN46 or EEA1 by immunofluorescence, and immunoprecipitation of native ARFGEF2 complexes from cultured mammalian cells. Storage at -20°C in working aliquots is recommended to limit freeze-thaw cycles and preserve binding activity across repeated use.
