Aquaporin-4 (AQP4) is the predominant water channel concentrated at astrocyte end-feet in the central nervous system, and a polyclonal reagent against it is widely used in neuroscience and neuroimmunology research. This Antibodies.com rabbit polyclonal antibody is supplied at 1 mg/ml in PBS with 0.1% Sodium Azide and 50% glycerol, in a 100 µl vial, validated for western blot (WB) and immunohistochemistry (IHC) on human, mouse, and rat samples. The unconjugated format gives labs flexibility to pair it with their own secondary detection reagents.

Applications include mapping AQP4 distribution in brain and spinal cord tissue sections, confirming expression in transfected cell lines or primary astrocyte lysates, and characterising models of brain oedema and glymphatic function. The glycerol-based buffer supports aliquoting and stable storage at –20 °C; aliquot on arrival and limit freeze-thaw cycles to preserve titre. The antibody is reactive across human, mouse, and rat, supporting comparative studies in rodent neuromyelitis optica (NMO) models and human post-mortem neural tissue, where AQP4 loss is a hallmark lesion feature.
