This polyclonal reagent from Antibodies.com targets apolipoprotein L1 (ApoL1), a lipid-binding plasma protein secreted by the liver that circulates on HDL3 particles and contributes to innate immunity against Trypanosoma brucei. Raised in rabbit and supplied as 100 µl of unconjugated antibody, it is validated for Western blot, immunohistochemistry, and ELISA workflows on human samples. Researchers studying renal disease use this reagent to characterize APOL1 risk alleles (G1 and G2), which are linked to focal segmental glomerulosclerosis, HIV-associated nephropathy, and altered podocyte function in carriers of African-ancestry haplotypes. It is equally suited to vascular and hepatic expression surveys, where ApoL1 abundance is correlated with lipid handling and innate immune signaling pathways.
