APEX1 (also known as APE1 or REF-1) is a multifunctional enzyme central to the base excision repair pathway, where it hydrolyzes the phosphodiester backbone immediately 5' to apurinic/apyrimidinic (AP) sites in damaged DNA. Beyond its DNA repair activity, APEX1 functions as a redox co-activator that regulates the DNA-binding activity of several transcription factors including NF-κB, AP-1, and HIF-1α, linking genotoxic stress to transcriptional responses.
This unconjugated rabbit polyclonal reagent from Antibodies.com is raised against the human APEX1 target and is validated for Western blot, immunohistochemistry, and immunofluorescence workflows. It cross-reacts with mouse and rat orthologs, enabling comparative studies across standard mammalian model systems. Supplied as 100 µL of polyclonal antiserum for research use only, the antibody supports investigations into DNA damage response, oxidative stress signaling, and cancer biology, where APEX1 expression and subcellular localization are frequently altered in tumor tissue.
