Aldehyde oxidase 1 (AOX1) is a molybdenum-containing cytosolic enzyme best known for oxidizing aldehydes and aromatic nitrogen heterocycles during xenobiotic and drug metabolism. Raised in rabbit and supplied by Antibodies.com as an unconjugated polyclonal reagent, this primary antibody recognizes the human AOX1 protein and is validated for Western blot (WB) and immunohistochemistry (IHC) workflows. The 100 µl aliquot is provided in a vial format and is intended for research use only in laboratory studies of hepatic detoxification, retinoid biosynthesis, and pharmacokinetic profiling.

Because the host species is rabbit and the reagent is polyclonal, multiple epitopes across the AOX1 sequence are recognized, which is helpful when probing tissue sections where antigen presentation varies between samples. Researchers working on liver, lung, or kidney tissue commonly pair this reagent with standard chromogenic or fluorescence detection systems, and the unconjugated format leaves the choice of secondary label open. For reproducible staining, thin sections mounted on positively charged slides and antigen retrieval in citrate buffer (pH 6.0) or EDTA buffer (pH 9.0) are typical starting points, while Western blot transfer is usually performed onto nitrocellulose or PVDF membranes and developed with chemiluminescent substrate.
