The Antibodies.com polyclonal antibody recognizes AOS1, also designated SAE1, the smaller catalytic subunit of the heterodimeric SUMO-activating enzyme. Raised in rabbit and supplied as an unconjugated reagent in 100 µl format, it is validated for Western blot and immunofluorescence workflows. Cross-reactivity has been confirmed against human, mouse, and rat samples, supporting comparative studies across these species in basic and translational research.

AOS1 partners with UBA2 to catalyze the ATP-dependent activation of SUMO-1, SUMO-2, and SUMO-3, initiating the SUMOylation cascade that modifies substrate lysines. SUMO conjugation influences transcription factor activity, DNA damage repair, nuclear-cytoplasmic trafficking, and cell cycle progression, so detection of endogenous AOS1 supports investigation of post-translational regulation under basal and stress conditions, including genotoxic and oxidative challenge.

For Western blot, the polyclonal format improves the likelihood of detecting the target across isoforms and processing states. For immunofluorescence, the unconjugated antibody can be paired with species-matched secondary reagents to localize AOS1 within nuclear and cytoplasmic compartments. Researchers studying ubiquitin-like modification pathways, oncogenic signaling, and DNA damage responses will find this reagent applicable to both standard endpoint assays and time-course experiments.
