Anti-Amyloid beta Peptide 42 Antibody [NT 3F5]

This Mouse monoclonal IgG2b antibody, distributed by Antibodies.com, specifically recognises Amyloid beta peptide 42 (Aβ42), the longer and more aggregation-prone isoform that accumulates as senile plaques in Alzheimer's disease brain tissue. The NT 3F5 clone is widely used by neurodegeneration researchers to distinguish Aβ42 deposits from the more prevalent Aβ40 species, supporting studies of amyloid plaque pathology and disease progression.

Supplied as a lyophilised powder in a 100 µg vial, the unconjugated antibody is routinely applied in immunohistochemistry on formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded human brain sections, where it labels extracellular amyloid plaques and cerebral amyloid angiopathy in cortical and hippocampal tissue. It is also used in ELISA-format assays measuring Aβ42 levels in cell lysates, conditioned culture media, and brain homogenates prepared from post-mortem human samples. The reagent shows reactivity with human amyloid and should be refrigerated after reconstitution; aliquoting is recommended to avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
