Produced by Antibodies.com as a mouse monoclonal primary antibody, this reagent targets the C-terminal epitope of Amyloid beta Peptide 40 (Aβ40), a 40-residue proteolytic fragment of the amyloid precursor protein. Aβ40 accumulates in the brains of patients with Alzheimer's disease alongside the more aggregation-prone Aβ42 species, and clone CV9 8B2 was raised specifically to discriminate Aβ40 from Aβ42, supporting quantitative studies of the relative ratios of the two peptides in experimental samples.

Supplied as 100 µg of lyophilised powder, the unconjugated IgG1 antibody is validated for ELISA applications and recognises amyloid-beta sequences from human, mouse, and rat. This broad species reactivity enables translational workflows that compare Aβ40 levels in human samples, transgenic rodent models, and cell-based systems. Reconstitution in sterile buffer is recommended prior to use, and the lyophilised format offers extended shelf stability when stored refrigerated and protected from light.

Typical research applications include quantifying Aβ40 concentrations in conditioned cell culture media, brain tissue homogenates, and cerebrospinal fluid, where ELISA readouts inform investigations of amyloidogenic processing, γ-secretase activity, and the efficacy of disease-modifying therapeutic candidates.
