Produced by Antibodies.com, this rabbit polyclonal reagent is raised against the catalytic α-subunits of AMP-activated protein kinase and recognises the conserved region surrounding residues 174/172 of human AMPKα1 and AMPKα2. The immunogen is a synthetic peptide spanning amino acids 172–176 / 170–174 with the sequence L-R-T-S-C, and the antibody specifically detects endogenous levels of total AMPKα1/AMPKα2 protein. Supplied at 1.0 mg/mL in a 50 µl volume of phosphate-buffered saline (pH 7.4) containing 150 mM NaCl, 0.02% sodium azide and 50% glycerol, the unconjugated IgG preparation has been affinity-purified on an epitope-specific peptide column following immunisation with a KLH-conjugated peptide. It is validated for ELISA, Western blot, immunocytochemistry/immunofluorescence (ICC/IF) and immunohistochemistry (IHC), and it cross-reacts with human, mouse, rat, bovine, fish and monkey samples, making it broadly useful for metabolic-stress and kinase-signalling studies. The vial is shipped at 4 °C and should be aliquoted and stored at –20 °C, with repeated freeze/thaw cycles avoided to preserve long-term reagent performance.
