This unconjugated rabbit polyclonal antibody from Antibodies.com recognizes the catalytic alpha-1 subunit of AMP-activated protein kinase at an epitope centered on residue R493. Supplied as a 100 µl liquid aliquot at 1 mg/ml in phosphate buffered saline with 0.05% sodium azide at approximately pH 7.2, the reagent is used in immunohistochemistry workflows on formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded sections prepared from human, mouse, and rat tissues.

AMPKα1 acts as a cellular energy sensor, becoming activated when intracellular AMP and ADP rise relative to ATP, which makes antibodies against its catalytic subunit valuable for studies of metabolic regulation, mitochondrial biogenesis, glucose uptake, and the broader cellular response to nutrient or oxidative stress. Investigators probing pathways downstream of LKB1, CaMKK2, and TAK1, or examining cross-talk between AMPK and mTOR or ULK1, can apply this polyclonal reagent to localize endogenous AMPKα1 expression within tissue architecture.

Aliquot the vial upon first thaw and store refrigerated for short-term use; for extended projects, keep frozen at -20 °C in working volumes to limit repeated freeze-thaw cycles, and protect from light. The 0.05% sodium azide acts as a preservative, so the reagent should not be added directly to live-cell preparations. Research use only.
