Anti-ALPP Antibody

The Antibodies.com anti-ALPP polyclonal reagent is a rabbit host antibody raised against alkaline phosphatase, placental type, and is supplied as 100 µl of a 1 mg/ml stock in PBS with 0.1% sodium azide and 50% glycerol. It is unconjugated, allowing direct coupling to secondary detection reagents in either Western blot or immunohistochemistry workflows. Verified reactivity covers human and mouse samples, supporting translational studies that compare placental-type alkaline phosphatase expression across species.

ALPP is best known as a membrane-anchored glycoprotein strongly expressed by syncytiotrophoblast and by a defined set of germ cell tumors, where it is routinely used in IHC panels to distinguish seminoma, embryonal carcinoma, and other non-seminomatous entities from somatic carcinomas. Researchers also detect the protein by Western blot when characterising trophoblast-derived cell models, placental tissue lysates, or transfected cell lines overexpressing the placental isozyme. The polyclonal format provides recognition of multiple epitopes across the ALPP sequence, which can be useful when probing denatured samples in WB and fixed tissue sections in IHC.

Working aliquots should be stored refrigerated and protected from light, and the glycerol-containing buffer guards the antibody against freeze-thaw damage. As a primary antibody, it is intended for research use only and is not validated for diagnostic procedures.
