Description

Supplied by Antibodies.com, this mouse monoclonal antibody (clone 9A9) recognises Alpha-Synuclein and is provided in lyophilised form. It is of the IgG1 isotype and unconjugated, validated for ELISA and Western Blot (WB) applications, and reactive against human samples.

Alpha-Synuclein is a protein of largely unknown function, predominantly found in neural tissue. Its N-terminal region carries a lipid-binding motif resembling those of apolipoproteins, while a central hydrophobic region corresponds to the non-beta component involved in amyloid aggregation in Alzheimer's disease. Abnormal accumulation of this protein in the brain forms Lewy bodies, which are associated with Parkinson's disease, dementia, and multiple system atrophy. Mutations in the Alpha-Synuclein gene have also been linked to rare familial forms of Parkinson's disease.
