The 8F12 mouse monoclonal is an unconjugated IgG2a primary antibody raised against alpha-Synuclein, a 140 amino acid presynaptic protein encoded by the SNCA gene. Misfolding and aggregation of this target into insoluble Lewy bodies and glial cytoplasmic inclusions is the defining pathology of Parkinson's disease, dementia with Lewy bodies, and multiple system atrophy, making it a central focus of neurodegeneration research. Supplied by Antibodies.com as 100 µg of lyophilised material in a vial, the reagent is reconstituted in sterile buffer and is suitable for ELISA and Western blot workflows probing endogenous SNCA expression in human samples and relevant model systems.

On Western blot, alpha-Synuclein resolves near 14.5 kDa for the monomer, with higher-molecular-weight bands reflecting SDS-resistant oligomers and aggregated species. The unconjugated format allows flexible pairing with HRP-, fluorophore-, or biotin-labelled secondary reagents, supporting both chemiluminescent and immunofluorescence detection strategies. For handling, store the lyophilised powder refrigerated; after reconstitution, aliquot and freeze at -20 degrees C for long-term use, limiting repeated freeze-thaw cycles to preserve binding activity.

Verified applications include ELISA and WB. Host species: Mouse. Clonality: Monoclonal (clone 8F12). Isotype: IgG2a. Conjugate: Unconjugated. Reactivity: Human. Product form: Lyophilised.
