Raised in rabbit against the ER-resident glycoprotein-processing enzyme encoded by GANAB, this unconjugated polyclonal antibody from Antibodies.com targets alpha-glucosidase II and is supplied at 100 µl per vial. The reagent is validated for Western blot (WB) and immunohistochemistry (IHC) workflows on human samples.

Alpha-glucosidase II sits at the heart of the calnexin/calreticulin quality-control cycle, trimming the terminal glucose residues from N-linked glycans on nascent polypeptides. The enzyme comprises a catalytic α subunit (GIIα, encoded by GANAB) and a β subunit (GIIβ, encoded by PRKCSH), and its activity is essential for proper glycoprotein folding. Because loss-of-function mutations in GANAB are linked to autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease (ADPKD) and certain congenital disorders of glycosylation, this reagent is useful for studies of ER folding biology, glycan maturation, and disease mechanism.

In Western blot, the polyclonal format allows detection of the GIIα subunit across denatured lysates; in IHC, it enables visualization of expression patterns in formalin-fixed tissue sections. Aliquoting after the first thaw is recommended to limit repeated freeze-thaw cycles, and the vial is intended for research use only.
