The AFP-Y2 monoclonal antibody targets alpha-fetoprotein (AFP), a 70 kDa glycoprotein most strongly expressed in fetal liver and yolk sac, and re-expressed at elevated serum levels in hepatocellular carcinoma and certain germ cell tumors. The AFP-Y2 clone was raised against purified human AFP and is widely used as a detection reagent in matched-pair assays alongside the AFP-Y1 capture clone.
