The ALOX15 (arachidonate 15-lipoxygenase) target is a non-heme iron-containing dioxygenase that catalyzes the stereo-specific peroxidation of polyunsaturated fatty acids, most notably arachidonic and linoleic acid, generating lipid mediators linked to inflammation, ferroptosis, and membrane remodeling. This unconjugated rabbit polyclonal reagent from Antibodies.com is supplied as a 100 µl aliquot at 1 mg/ml in PBS with 0.1% sodium azide and 50% glycerol as a cryoprotectant, a buffer system that supports short-term refrigerated handling and longer-term frozen storage without loss of activity.

Raised in rabbit and affinity-purified as a polyclonal preparation, the antibody recognizes human, mouse, and rat ALOX15, making it a practical choice for cross-species studies in rodent disease models and human tissue specimens. It is validated for Western blot and immunohistochemistry, two methods widely used to characterize ALOX15 expression in atherosclerotic plaques, differentiating erythroid precursors, and tumor microenvironments where lipoxygenase activity influences immune cell recruitment.

Because ALOX15 has been implicated in the oxidation of membrane phospholipids during ferroptotic cell death, researchers studying iron-dependent cytotoxicity, lipid peroxidation, and the response of macrophages to oxidized LDL frequently rely on this reagent. The unconjugated format also allows users to couple the antibody to their preferred reporter, such as HRP or fluorophores, depending on the detection chemistry required.
