ALKBH1, also known as AlkB homolog 1, is a Fe(II)- and 2-oxoglutarate-dependent dioxygenase that acts as a nucleic acid demethylase. This unconjugated rabbit polyclonal reagent from Antibodies.com is raised against the human ALKBH1 protein and is validated for Western blot and immunohistochemistry workflows on human samples. The antibody is supplied at 1 mg/ml in PBS buffer containing 0.1% sodium azide and 50% glycerol, and is packaged as a 100 µl volume suitable for multiple experimental runs.

The target participates in oxidative demethylation of DNA and RNA substrates and contributes to tRNA modification, mitochondrial function, and DNA repair pathways. Investigators studying epigenetic regulation, the DNA damage response, mitochondrial gene expression, or tRNA biology use this reagent to detect endogenous ALKBH1 in cell and tissue lysates. In western blot, the antibody can be applied to whole-cell extracts to reveal a band of the expected molecular weight, while immunohistochemistry allows localization of ALKBH1 expression in fixed tissue sections.

Store at -20 °C in the supplied glycerol-containing buffer to preserve antibody activity for long-term use. The inclusion of 0.1% sodium azide prevents microbial contamination during repeated access, and the 50% glycerol formulation protects the protein during freeze-thaw cycles. Researchers should aliquot the reagent upon arrival if extended storage is anticipated.
