This unconjugated rabbit polyclonal antibody from Antibodies.com targets intestinal alkaline phosphatase (ALPI), a brush-border enzyme expressed by enterocytes along the small intestinal villus. Raised against the tissue-specific intestinal isoform, the reagent is supplied as 100 µL of polyclonal antiserum suitable for western blot and immunohistochemistry workflows on human samples.

ALPI hydrolyzes phosphate monoesters at the apical surface of intestinal epithelial cells, where it contributes to lipid absorption, regulation of lumenal pH, dephosphorylation of bacterial lipopolysaccharide, and maintenance of tight-junction integrity. Research teams studying inflammatory bowel disease, necrotizing enterocolitis, celiac disease, and gut barrier dysfunction use anti-ALPI antibodies to track enterocyte maturation and damage-associated shedding of the enzyme into stool or circulation.

Validated for western blot detection of the mature glycosylated protein and for IHC localization along the apical brush border, the antibody performs on paraformaldehyde-fixed paraffin-embedded sections as well as cultured intestinal organoid and Caco-2 monolayer models. Being unconjugated, the reagent can be paired with any anti-rabbit HRP, biotin, or fluorescent secondary reporter of the user's choice, supporting both chromogenic DAB and immunofluorescence pipelines. Storage at 4 °C in standard laboratory conditions is appropriate for short-term use, and aliquoting is recommended to minimize repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
