Supplied through Antibodies.com, this affinity-purified polyclonal reagent is raised in rabbit against a synthetic peptide derived from the C-terminal region of human aldose reductase, enabling sensitive detection of endogenous AKR1B1 (also known as ALDR1, ALR2, AR, or aldehyde reductase, EC 1.1.1.21). Provided as a 50 µl liquid at 1 mg/mL in PBS containing 50% glycerol, 0.5% BSA and 0.02% sodium azide, the unconjugated IgG preparation is validated for Western blotting, immunohistochemistry, and immunocytochemistry/immunofluorescence workflows on human and rat samples. The antibody was affinity-purified from rabbit antiserum by epitope-specific affinity chromatography, supporting clean backgrounds in both chromogenic and fluorescence-based assays. For short-term transit it is shipped at 4 °C; upon receipt it should be aliquoted and stored at –20 °C, with repeated freeze/thaw cycles avoided to preserve binding activity. Because the immunogen targets a conserved C-terminal epitope, the reagent reliably recognizes the full-length aldose reductase monomer in lysates from tissues and cultured cells where polyol-pathway activity is of interest, including lens, kidney, nerve and vascular preparations commonly used in diabetic-complication research. Researchers performing ELISA or additional immunofluorescence assays should note that, although the core validation panel on the Antibodies.com product page lists WB, IHC and ICC/IF, the same epitope-specific polyclonal has been used successfully in those formats in published work; we recommend empirical titration, starting around 1 µg/mL for Western blot and 2–5 µg/mL for IHC, and including appropriate positive (e.g., human kidney or lens extract) and negative controls. The product is intended for research use only and is not validated for diagnostic or therapeutic applications.
