ALDH4A1 (aldehyde dehydrogenase 4 family member A1), also called P5CDh or Δ1-pyrroline-5-carboxylate dehydrogenase, is a mitochondrial matrix enzyme that catalyzes the final oxidative step of proline catabolism, converting Δ1-pyrroline-5-carboxylate to glutamate. Researchers commonly use this unconjugated rabbit polyclonal reagent from Antibodies.com to probe ALDH4A1 expression in human tissues and cell lines by Western blot, immunohistochemistry on fixed sections, and immunofluorescence imaging. The 100 µL volume is supplied as a polyclonal antibody raised in rabbit, allowing flexible selection of secondary labels and detection chemistries for each application. The target participates in connective-tissue metabolism through its role in funneling proline-derived intermediates to glutamate, and altered expression has been reported in studies of hepatocellular carcinoma, clear cell renal carcinoma, and certain fibrotic contexts, making the antibody useful for pathway and biomarker investigations in basic and translational research.
